GEW Awards Nite 2010
On November 21st 2010, MOFEW was invited to the GEW Awards Nite 2010 at the DoubleTree Hilton hotel in KL as guests and also to showcase and introduce Malaysian Online Fashion Entrepreneurs to the world.
What made this event special is that MOFEW was also invited to put together a fashion show to highlight the talents of these online fashion entrepreneurs thus extending the invitation to the Top 8 finalists of MOFEW: The Search (unfortunately only 4 was able to make it), namely Chiino Pieces, Soul Chic, Mystique Boutique and Très Trésors.
The team arrived as early as 9.30am for rehearsal with the models to get the sequence and timing right. The runway isn’t the usual this time round as models are required to walk the red carpet to the end of the ballroom, a closer contact with the guests.
If you’ve yet to hear, MOFEW became a partner of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) right after the MOFEW Exhibition in August. GEW is celebrated in over 100 countries worldwide and this strategic partnership allows online fashion entrepreneurs in Malaysia to extend their exposure on a global scale and to make their presence known to fellow Malaysians.
The wait is finally over as guests began to pour in at 7.30pm. Dash, the man behind GEW Malaysia took the stage and welcomed the honorary guests of the nite which includes YBhg Datuk Badlisham Ghazali (CEO, MSC Malaysia), His Excellency Paul W. Jones (Ambassador of US Embassy, Malaysia), YB Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah and our deputy prime minister, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, along with GEW Sponsors and Partners.
It wasn’t long before it was MOFEW’s turn to take the stage. With the entrepreneurs and models ready, GEW first introduced MOFEW’s objectives to the guests indicating the importance of recognizing the talents of online fashion entrepreneurs locally. The online fashion entrepreneurs were also introduced individually at the end of the fashion show, putting a face to their brand name and to be recognized and acknowledged by everyone present that night. This event is indeed an excellent opportunity for Online Fashion Entrepreneurs to be widely recognized among different clusters of people in Malaysia and beyond. We at MOFEW are grateful for GEW and every online fashion entrepreneur that has given us the opportunity to work and partner alongside you for a greater cause. Thank you!
